Our choice of the best international and local magazine covers in MagLove this week:
- New York
- Thursday Magazine
- Vanity Fair
New York, 17 February 2014
Lupita Nyong’o is definitely making a name for herself!
This Kenyan-Mexican actress made her film debut in the 2013 movie 12 Years a Slave and made everyone in the industry sit up and take note of her. And this New York cover is doing it again!
She’s just swimming in a sea of red patterns, but she’s standing out and shining bright, like the stunningly beautiful star she is!
Orlando, February 2014
We’ve seen the trend of magazines recreating a black board look-and-feel for the cover, one magazine ‘baking’ the cover with pastry, and even one writing all the cover lines with BBQ sauces.
But this cover, all made from chocolate, is again something I’ve never seen before, and something worth sharing [that said, I’m so over this trend — ed]!
Thursday Magazine, 6 February 2014
A simple, yet unique, cover concept, with a little twist and teaser to make you want to see page 12 for the missing link…
Vanity Fair, March 2014
I’m always in awe of these types of covers, for their pure brilliance, status, and for just getting all of these names in one room together to create a True Hollywood cover!
JSE, January – March 2014
This custom publication for JSE clients is cleverly takes a simple story and breaks it down into something that even I would want to read. Love it.
