Happy 5th Birthday, Women’s Health! I can still remember when they launched 5 years ago, but not the normal route! Nope, they launched with a website first (for a few months), and had a mini-Women’s Health bagged with Men’s Health, so that the male readers can give it to their better halves! I thought it was brilliant, and it’s definitely a case study to remember!
To celebrate their 5th Birthday, they’re feature South African personalities Jeannie D, Gail Nkoane and Jo-Ann Strauss, who have all appeared on previous covers (you click on their names to view their archives).
Celebrations can definitely be felt through this issue (see above and below) with editor Kate Wilson and the team showing their ‘team spirit’, and showing on the Editor’s Page, a selection of previous covers and the following stats:
- 5 Years
- 55 Issues
- 8 500 Pages
- 534 000 Readers
As little add-on (if you don’t look closely, you’ll miss it in this issue) they have a fun little element where Women’s Health is giving their readers the chance to get a #WHhigh5 from a former Men’s Health Cover Guy winner, Johry Batt. More information on how to nominate your friends here, and also in the article below.
Here’s a video of Women’s Health editor Kate Wilson receiving a #WHhigh5 (the very last one he had to do) and then also a compilation of the #WHhigh5’s…
And then something else I spotted, is that Drostdy-Hof is teaming up with Women’s Health (and Checkers and Checkers Hyper): When you buy two 750ml bottles of Drostdy-Hof Extra Light from Checkers and Checkers Hyper until 31 December 2014, you can grab a copy of Women’s Health from the shelf, and it will be free!
Happy Birthday once again, ladies (and gentlemen!) of Women’s Health!
Below are our covers models, on their first original Women’s Health South Africa covers.
